Founded in 1985, Journalism and Women Symposium is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that advances the professional empowerment and personal growth of women* in journalism and advocates for more inclusive coverage of the diverse experiences and cultures that comprise our society. We believe that by advancing women in journalism, we transform the world.

We are seeking two professionals - both part-time contract roles - to join the team as JAWS embarks on a new chapter of growth and influence.

* “Women” here includes anyone who self-identifies as a woman, non-binary or agender person.

Membership Coordinator

This person will be responsible for maintaining the membership database; working with the Executive Director, committees and leadership volunteers to help grow and engage members; and maintaining administrative files, records and databases, keeping everything organized, up-to-date and operational.

Communications & Community Manager

This person will work with the Executive Director and committees to develop communications strategies and plans; produce all member communications; manage the JAWS website, social media, and digital communities; and support both virtual and in-person programs and events.
