JAWS and AIR partner to offer exchange membership

By Rachel Sams

We mentioned in our April JAWS (Journalism and Women Symposium) newsletter that we had some exciting news coming soon about meaningful partnerships with other journalism organizations.

We met our deadline.

JAWS has built an incredibly strong professional and personal training and support network for women journalists.

AIR has created a powerful alliance of independent audio producers, multimedia journalists and public media programs, stations and networks.

Today, JAWS and AIR are announcing an exchange membership rate for their members. AIR members can join JAWS at a special rate of $35, and JAWS members can join AIR at a special rate of $87.50.

Many of our JAWS members are hungry for more resources and connections in audio journalism. And more than half of AIR’s members identify as women; now, they can access JAWS’ extensive network of resources and connections for women journalists at a special rate.

“JAWS’ greatest strength is the diversity of its members,” said President Yumi Wilson. “We have long been a space where women working in print, video, audio and digital media come together to encourage one another and share opportunities. Our new partnership with AIR — with its vibrant network of audio producers, multimedia journalists and other media makers — will make this collaboration possible on a larger scale. I’m thrilled to welcome new voices into our organization.”
