Upcoming: Virtual social hours, CAMP 2020
The JAWS (Journalism and Women Symposium) board hopes that you and everyone you care for are staying strong and safe. As journalism adjusts to the new normal, we are adapting, too, adding new ways to support the empowerment and personal growth of women in journalism as we work toward a more accurate portrayal of the whole society.
Below please find a snapshot of what we’ve been up to and what’s coming next. We encourage you to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or jaws.org for the latest news on our programs and services. (If you aren’t already a member, why not join now?)
Public social hours: While you're staying home, connect other journalists through casual get-togethers on Zoom. Our next virtual social hours will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. EST on June 9, and June 18, from 6-7 p.m. PT. This is open to the members and non-members alike. We promise, no agendas or presentations! We are keeping it casual, with great company and conversation. Register for Session 1 here and Session 2 here.
CAMP: Join us at our 35th annual Conference and Mentoring Project (CAMP) on Dec. 4-6 in Austin, Texas. Our theme is "The Future of Journalism: Forging the Path Together.” CAMP will bring us an unparalleled opportunity to join our peers in reflecting on a year of elections and on how COVID-19 has changed our profession. There has never been a better time to network, learn from experts and strengthen community. Given the uncertainty about the coronavirus and future social distancing, the CAMP committee is already thinking about various options for our annual gathering. We will be bringing you timely updates through social media and newsletters as well as posts.
