JAWS turns 35!

As we celebrate this milestone, look for special events on jaws.org that celebrate our history of supporting the professional empowerment and personal growth of women and people who identify as women, along with our dedication to diversity and inclusion.

Here is a sneak peek at what is coming up:

We are thrilled to announce that JAWS’ 35th anniversary celebration will include a film festival presented by The Children of the Setting Sun Productions (CSSP) and co-sponsored with the Native American Journalists Association (NAJA). The festival, “We Need Each Other,” showcases the rich history, legacies and traditions of the Salish people in the Northwest and Canada. ”We Need Each Other” will showcase three short films and take place on Indigenous People’s Day, Oct. 12.

Our founders and earliest members will give their perspectives on JAWS and what their membership has meant to them. These essays and reflections inspire, as they share on how they made their careers and how the sisterhood of JAWS has affected them along the way.

We are delighted to share that we will have a reading by a JAWdess from her new book published this summer (more to come).

A celebratory look! As of today, you’ll see a new logo commemorating our 35th anniversary. The temporary logo gives a special nod to the past -- using the ampersand and color red -- while updating the font and hue.

That is just the start. We have much more in store that celebrates JAWS’ past and looks forward to the next 35 years.
