JAWS denounces attacks on journalists covering protests
The Journalism & Women Symposium (JAWS) denounce the violence against journalists in the protests taking place across the country.
"Journalists, media crews and news organizations are a critical connection between people at home and the protests in the streets. Those who target journalists with rubber bullets take aim at the First Amendment," said Mira Lowe, JAWS president.
JAWS incorporated as a nonprofit in 1985 to support the professional empowerment and personal growth of women in journalism and work toward a more accurate portrayal of the whole society. An accurate portrayal of the whole society is jeopardized when journalists are prevented from doing their jobs.
