Beverly Wettenstein Women’s History Month Speaker Series
March 15 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT
Free
The first webinar in the JAWS Beverly Wettenstein Women’s History Month Speaker Series is March 15 at 7 p.m. ET.
Topic: Words Matter: How to Speak Up as an Ally, Active Bystander – or Accomplice
You witness something you know is unjust, unfair, unkind, or unsafe. What’s the best way to respond?
You see a need for change and want to get others on board. How do you start the conversation?
How can you be most effective, whether reacting in the moment or preparing to raise an issue? What choices do you have, and how do you select the best option – while being your authentic self?
Our presenter is longtime JAWS member and supporter Jill Geisler, the Bill Plante Chair in Leadership and Media Integrity at Loyola University Chicago.
Jill’s years of work with leaders and managers, her involvement in programs dedicated to DBEI, and her creation of a curriculum on workplace safety, allyship and inclusive leadership make her the ideal person for this program. It took her mere moments after our outreach for her to send a resounding “YES” and volunteer.
Jill stresses that this won’t be a lecture. She’ll share foundational info – but most of our time will be a conversation and an exploration of real-time scenarios and how to respond. You’ll leave with practical tips you can put to work immediately.
