CAMP starts THIS Friday! The ever popular Silent Auction opens Thursday! Don’t miss out – join us for #CAMPonDemand2021 — Re-emerging and Reimaging — an online gathering where women in journalism will explore the “aha!” moments we’ve had during the past year of Covid and the ways we are reimagining what’s next for women in journalism. CAMP is Oct. 15-17.
You will find opportunities to improve and expand your skills along the tracks of freelancing, training, careers and issues; inspiring speakers; plenty of time to share stories, make new friends and experience the importance of what we all do as journalists. There’s a dance party, yoga, Jazzercise, coffee time, a photo booth and break-out rooms for conversations with other attendees. There are mini sessions that include on self care and building an online audience, along with a virtual news studio.
Come hang out, or drop into breakout rooms for academics, new grads, freelancers and others.
Our fabulous keynote speakers include Deborah Douglas and Amber Payne, co-editors-in-chief of The Emancipator, which reimagines an abolitionist news outlet for a new day, and Melody Spann Cooper, chairman and CEO of Chicago’s Midway Broadcasting Corporation, owner of the oldest Black-oriented radio station in the city.
Longtime CAMP tradition Books & Browse will have two sessions this year, each with a panel of JAWS authors who published books in the past year. They’ll offer readings and Q&As online.
