Want to learn how to track shootings by police in your community? Are you curious about how to go about investigating your local police department?
Join the Journalism and Women Symposium for our upcoming webinar hosted by Washington Post investigative reporter Kimbriell Kelly, who was part of the 2016 Pulitzer Prize-winning team for the Post’s series on fatal police shootings.
The webinar will be held at 3 PM PST / 6 PM EST on Thursday, April 26. Thanks to the generous support of the Gridiron Club and Foundation, the webinar is free for members and $25 for non-members. A recording will be sent to registrants who are not able to attend.
Kelly will share her expertise, which includes databases, documents and public records requests. Her work has revealed that police departments have been forced to reinstate more than 450 fired officers after appeals required by union contracts. Kelly and colleagues have also uncovered the 54 officers charged over the past decade for fatally shooting someone while on duty.
