As we get closer and closer to CAMP, it’s time to start thinking about what to pack!
CAMP is casual, so swap your suits and pencil skirts for jeans, casual tops and comfy shoes. T-shirts from previous CAMPs are especially welcome.
The weather looks to be perfect, with sunny skies, highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s. Recent forecasts have had rain, however, so pack an umbrella or rain jacket just in case.
The basics – Don’t forget a sweater in case the conference rooms are chilly. A swimsuit is also a must as many late-night heart-to-hearts take place around the hot tub. Be sure to pack hiking shoes and exercise clothes if you plan to explore the lovely trails of Hot Springs National Park, work out in the hotel gym or attend one of CAMP’s morning yoga sessions.
Glitzy garb – The Friday night kick-off party is 1920s themed, so bring your flapper dresses, feather headbands, trousers and bob cuts. Get ready to dance the night away at a bash that’s sure to be the bee’s knees.
Money for the cash bar and auction – Receptions will be held before dinner begins each night, so bring your wallet and mingle with friends old and new. Save money for the in-person and online auctions too, which will run all weekend.
Writing tools – Don’t forget to add a laptop or pen and notebook to your bag. Conference sessions are packed with useful tools and tips you’ll want to write down.
Auction items – Jewelry, handicrafts, artwork, purses, media swag, books, clothing — bring it all to donate to CAMP’s eclectic in-person auction. Don’t have room in your suitcase to bring auction items? You can also donate goods or services to the online auction, which features vacation homes, event tickets, classes and skill sharing. Be sure to leave space in your bag for all the auction items you buy in Hot Springs. After all, all proceeds from the sale go to JAWS programs.
