December 2016: Looking back at 2016, getting ready for 2017

As 2016 comes to a close, I want to offer thanks to everyone who’s done so much for Journalism and Women Symposium this year.

So many people have contributed it would be impossible to name you all.

But you’ve helped JAWS put on another great Conference and Mentoring Program in Roanoke, Va., hold three successful daylong regional training sessions, continue our work of mentoring each other and building relationships and more.

From board members to committee volunteers to trainers and mentors to our great JAWS staff members, your support is invaluable.

For those who’ve contributed financially to help support our fellows and our programming, we thank you profusely. That support supplements our dues to provide our services to women journalists.

We’re planning for an even better 2017, with more regional trainings and another wonderful CAMP in Hot Springs, Ark. (You haven’t checked Arkansas off your 50-state list? Here’s your chance!)

But we’ll still need your help. If you didn’t chip in on Giving Tuesday, there’s still time to help out JAWS and get a tax deduction before the end of the year.

Even a few dollars can make a difference.

So consider this:
• Donate to JAWS in honor or memory of a fellow woman journalist.
• Ask a friend or family member to donate to JAWS in lieu of a gift.
• How many emails did you send to the JAWS list last year seeking or offering help? Considering donating $1 per email!
• Tally up how much you spend at the coffee shop each week (for me, it’s often $25 to $30, including tips), and donate that amount to JAWS.
• Or do all of the above!

In the meantime, we’re planning more great JAWS work for 2017!
