Shahla Farzan

Shahla Farzan is a Ph.D. student at the University of California, Davis. She has spent years studying the mysteries of native bee ecology. She has immersed herself in the study of tiny worlds hidden deep within beetle burrows and in the shape of iridescent wings. However, on her way to becoming a bee specialist, she discovered that her passion lies in translating science, rather than generating it.

As Farzan wraps up her dissertation, she is preparing to make the transition from the lab bench to a career in audio journalism. She will be moving to Homer, Alaska to work as a reporter/on-air host at KBBI Public Radio (“Where the Sound Meets the Sea”).
