January 2016: Check out the JAWS member directory

How often do you check out the JAWS member directory?

I check it out pretty frequently, looking for JAWdesses in Colorado, New Mexico or the next place I’m visiting. Sometimes I look for women with a reporting or editing specialty. Other times, I’m looking for people in specific journalism groups to help me make connections.

We moved to a more robust members-only site two years ago, and I’m hoping we can begin to take more advantage of its features in 2016.

We’ve begun to post board meeting minutes on the site so you can keep up to date with our organizational goings on.

There’s a resources tab with audio, videos, CAMP tip sheets and, we hope, more to come. We welcome your ideas for this area!

On the events tab, you can find upcoming regional soirees, CAMP registration and — now open — registration for our leadership workshop in Chicago Feb. 27 featuring Jill Geisler and other wonderful women ready to help you pave your way and ease your journey into news management.

Soon, the board of directors will be seeking feedback in the members-only area on policy revisions concerning membership and listserv policies.

But we also hope that as part of your 2016 goal setting you’ll update your member profile. Consider this a more exclusive LinkedIn, a way to network with other JAWS members who want to help each other succeed.

So go to the members-only area now. Log in — and if you haven’t been there for a while  and can’t get a password reset, email me. Then update your profile with your latest details.

Because someone may be looking for you!
