Meet the 2015 Entrepreneurial Fellow Claritza Jiménez

ClaritzaJimenezClaritza Jiménez is a television news producer and video journalist. She produces international news as part of the Latin America team at Associated Press Television News (APTN) in Washington, D.C. Jiménez, who is a native Spanish speaker, started her journalism career at the CBS stations in Chicago and Dallas. She was awarded an Investigative Journalism Fellowship at American University’s School of Communication, where she earned a Master of Arts in journalism.

Jiménez would like to see more women and people of color quoted as expert sources in news reporting. As the 2015 JAWS Entrepreneurial Fellow, she will work on developing a digital product to connect journalists to expert sources from diverse backgrounds.

At the Conference and Mentoring Project (CAMP), Jiménez plans to learn what challenges journalists face in identifying and building relationships with diverse sources. She’s also looking for technical tips and ideas on what it would take to build and launch a digital product.
