Casey Hynes

CaseyHynesCasey Hynes is a freelance journalist who recently returned to the U.S. after living in Asia for four and a half years. While there, she wrote features on the Beijing expat community for The Wall Street Journal, blogged about rights issues in Thailand and Myanmar for AsianCorrespondent.com, and created a beat around the emerging tech and telecom industries in Myanmar, among other assignments. She currently freelances from her new home in southeast Iowa, and is especially interested in the intersection of emerging tech ecosystems, developing economies and rights issues.

After witnessing communities of women in Southeast Asia supporting one another professionally, Hynes realized the importance of mentorship and community in her own field. She’s eager to learn from women who have blazed journalistic trails, and wants to share her experiences and insights with fellow journalists.
