Laura Jaramillo

Laura_Jaramillo-HeadshotLaura Jaramillo is a producer for Efecto Naím, a newsmagazine show broadcast throughout Latin America. She produces and presents pieces on international politics, technology and economics, and is especially interested in covering global threats to democracy.

Jaramillo moved from Colombia to the United States with her family at the age of 14. While studying abroad in Bogotá, she helped create La Silla Vacía, Colombia’s first online political journalism portal. She covered the Green Party during the 2010 presidential election, and wrote investigative pieces about government corruption.

She has a degree in Government from Harvard University. After graduation, Jaramillo lived in China as a Michael Rockefeller fellow, where she studied traditional Chinese painting and unsuccessfully tried to find herself.  She is still looking.
