Lisen Stromberg

Lisen Stromberg is an independent journalist whose work has appeared in a myriad of publications including Newsweek, Salon, Forbes.com, NPR, Mothering Magazine, and others. She won the Gold Medal of Excellence in the Personal Essay Category from Northwestern University’s McGill School of Journalism, First Place for Commentary from the San Francisco/Peninsula Press Club, and Best Magazine Column from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). She has also won awards for her creative non-fiction.

Before launching her writing career, Lisen spent nearly twenty years working in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. She was a Brand Manager at Nestle Corporation and a Vice President at Foote, Cone, Belding advertising agency. As President of Durham Marketing Group, she worked with high technology start-ups on their strategic business and marketing plans. In 1999, she co-founded with Dr. William Pollock, Supporting Our Sons, a national non-profit advocating on behalf of boys. She served as its Chairman of the Board and President until 2004.

In addition to her role as Chairman of the Board of Supporting Our Sons, Lisen has served on the boards of Planned Parenthood Golden Gate, WebOrder, Inc., and the Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo. Lisen has her B.A. from Dartmouth College, her M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business at U.C. Berkeley and her M.F.A. from Mills College. She lives with her husband and three children in the San Francisco Bay Area.
